Interesting Story
Hello friends,
I hope your New Year's festivities went well. I just wanted to share this really funny story with you all. So other night my good friend Paul and I went to our friends house, the Ismatullah's. They are Afghan refugees who came over after the start of the war. Paul and I have become friends of the family and kinda mentors for three of the boys. Anyway, all 9 of the kids celebrate their birthday on Jan. 1st. So, they invited us to their riproaring party. They got us all dressed up in the traditional festive garments and we ate amazing Afghan food. Then we were thinking we be taking off, but then the mother of the family was like, No, now it's time for dancing. So, Paul and I happily joined in and most of the time it was just us dancing around their living room, looking like idiots, while the kids laughed and were too embarrassed to dance. It was awesome.
I hope you are all doing well. I've been thinking a lot about you all. I leave 1 week from today!!! ahhh!
Peace,
PR

Friends,
Yesterday was my first day back to Loyola since Mary's birth. Patrick E. sent me your blog address and I have to say I am just thrilled to read about your community. Your loving, positive and generous energy are tangible. May blessings and prayers are with you as this amazing effort continues to take shape.
The quote posted from Tutu reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from St. Catherine of Siena's classic work, The Dialogues. (Incidentally, she is my daugher Mary Siena's patron.) Catherine heard God speaking to her thusly:
"Thus have I give you reason--necessity, in fact--to practice mutual charity. For I could well have supplied each of you with all your needs both spiritual and material. But I wanted to make you dependent on one another so that each of you would be my minister, dispensing the graces and gifts you have received from me. So, whether you will it or not, you cannot espace the exercise of charity! Yet, unless you do it for love of me, it is worth nothing in the realm of grace. So you see, I have made you my ministers, setting you indifferent positions and in different ranks to exercise the virtue of charity. For there are many rooms in my house. All I want is love. In loving me, you will realize love for your neighbors, and if you love your neighbors you have kept the law. If you are bound by this love, you will do everything you can to be of service wherever you are."
Love to you all,
Claire
Hellooo!I can't wait to see you all again next week (well except for Hannah, Patrick, and Eddie, we'll miss you!). So I found a fruit basket for our community, I hope you all like fruit b/c it's HUGE! And even better it's fair trade from Uganda.
Anyway, my brother has some bunk beds he thinks he will be looking to get rid of in May, if I get them to Chicago, do we want them? let me know!
